The guns fall silent and the loot rooms work through to the final night
Two days remain on Vanilla Quad's clock, and this last week is the quietest of the wipe by every measure but one. Community kills sit at 37, the exact figure the board already carried a week ago: nobody has killed anybody, on the record, since the last issue went to print. Hours played climbed anyway, 439 across the season's 34 residents, up 15 hours in a week where nothing traded hands in a fight.
What did happen: on Monday night, with roughly a day left before the map's window closes, six crates opened, two puzzle rooms finally gave up loot that had sat waiting since Saturday, and a burst of activity at grid W10 closed with an elite crate and, twenty five minutes later, one resident logging a wound healed and another an assist in the same recorded second. The fields kept working regardless. One recorded life spent over an hour standing on monument ground and came away with eight dead scientists to show for it, and a stand of corn came off the vine as the week's last harvest.
The weather ran from Squally on Tuesday, its fog bank thickening to 0.55, well past the island's usual haze, down through a genuinely Light cloud Wednesday, before Sunday and Monday both turned to Showers, rain touching about one in seven samples on Sunday and roughly one in eight on Monday. Ordinary, mild, entirely beside the point.
The last rush lands at W10 with a day left on the clock
The alarms desk logged six crate spawns, two keycard swipes, and two puzzle rooms cracked in the season's final stretch, and saved almost all of the noise for one night. Just before eleven on Monday, with roughly a day left before the map's window closes, two crates opened at W10 within thirty seconds of each other, a third followed at W11 three minutes later, and an elite crate at W10 paid out in between, the last elite loot the records desk will log this wipe. Twenty five minutes on, one resident logged a wound healed and another an assist, in the same recorded second, closing out the night. Earlier in the week, level one swipes went through at L14 and V11 on Saturday, eight hours and twenty five minutes apart, and the puzzle rooms behind them took their time: one sat finished for roughly five and a half hours before it was looted, the other for nearly fourteen. Grid K16 and Q13 each logged one quieter crate besides, the season's last footnotes before the noisy finish.
Eight scientists, one hour on monument ground, and a last stand of corn
Six life stories closed out this week and none of them ended with a player kill on the record. The longest ran two hours and ten minutes and spent thirty nine minutes of it standing inside monument grounds without landing so much as an animal kill. Another, an hour and fifty seven minutes long, spent over an hour of it on monument ground and closed out with eight scientists dead, the highest scientist count logged this week. A shorter life packed five animal kills and a scientist into forty five minutes flat. Somewhere in between, one stand of corn came off the vine, genotype GGHHYX, the last harvest the farm report has on file this season.
Two vendor runs, the same 750 scrap, right to the end
Two vendor sales cleared in the season's final week, one on Wednesday morning and the other late Monday night, each landing on exactly 750 scrap. That is 1,500 scrap moved through the vendors in the last stretch, and, true to form for the entire wipe, neither sale varied from the other by so much as a single scrap.
The board the season leaves behind
oji3 closes the season on top by hours alone, 78 hours and 26 minutes played for 8 kills against 22 deaths, a 0.36 ratio that barely moved across the back half of the wipe. KanoN finishes with the best record in the top ten, 8 kills for 6 deaths and a 1.33 ratio, down from 1.60 last issue, proof that nobody coasts to the finish line. ThatGuyDutton, the wipe's early leader, ends up third on hours and near the bottom on the ratio column, 7 kills against 24 deaths. Bray closes exactly as it opened, a clean 1.00 across 3 kills and 3 deaths, the only top ten entry that never tipped either way all season. And rabidkevin, on the board since week two, finishes with 4 hours and 32 minutes logged, zero kills, zero deaths: a perfect nothing, sustained for an entire wipe.
The reckoning
Three predictions went to print on wipe day, and the season now closes the book on all of them. The first bet that the board's first named entry would come from a monument, not a firefight. It did not: issue two's opening board credited combat first, seven kills against thirteen deaths, while every keycard swipe and puzzle loot logged all wipe stayed exactly as anonymous as this paper insists doors should be. Miss, and a fair one.
The second bet on a drowning in full view of dry land by the season's midpoint. The deep sea desk never filed a single line all wipe, not at the midpoint, not since. Whatever the water took this season, it took quietly and off the record. Miss, and arguably the tidiest one: nobody drowned on paper because the paper was never given the chance.
The third predicted that a clean early swipe would end in an obituary its owner never saw coming. This is the one prediction the Chronicle cannot actually grade, not because it did not happen, but because the paper's own rule against naming a resident in a moment like that means it never could be proven either way. Call it unresolved, by design, and leave it there.
Two days remain before Vanilla Quad's window closes. Whether the island stays this quiet through to the reset, or finds one more reason to fight with nothing left to play for, is the last open question of the season.
Monday night's rush hit W10 with barely a day to spare. Whether the island has one more loot cluster in it before the seed turns over, nobody currently on the board gets to see.
When the world resets, the board goes back to zero, the grids get new names, and every resident currently living on this page starts again as nobody in particular. See you on the other side.
