The wipe day briefingEarly edition
The island opens with scrap in one hand and coin in the other
At 14:00 EDT on Thursday the servers cut a fresh island out of seed 1214287704, four thousand units on a side, and said nothing further. By the time anyone thought to write it down, the Ferry Terminal had already drawn blood, a vault had opened twice in the same ten seconds, and one resident had logged seven dead scientists before finishing a single base wall. This is Hardcore PvE's first wipe of the season, the first to run under the full dual economy: scrap moving hand to hand exactly as it always has, and the physical Gold Coin, retired from the old server wallet back in July, now sitting in pockets alongside it.
Nobody has built anything worth naming yet. What exists instead is a scattering of first contacts: il-nul at the Ferry Terminal twice inside ten minutes, crass_user finding the Lighthouse, Kerrypants clearing the Abandoned Supermarket, and Pure logging a life story so tidy it reads like a tutorial. The scientists, as ever, did not survive the introduction.
Twenty eight days remain. The island has already started keeping score, whether or not anyone else is watching yet.
First scientists fall before the tents are up
The wipe's first ten minutes did most of its fighting. Between THU 14:49 and THU 14:59 four residents found the island's guards before they found each other: il-nul at the Ferry Terminal, twice, ten minutes apart and apparently unbothered by the first visit. crass_user, 45.7 hours of history behind them, took the Lighthouse. Kerrypants, at 24.8 hours, cleared the Abandoned Supermarket. Every one of them walked away. The scientists did not.
A vault opens twice in the same ten seconds
Two puzzles fell within the same minute, each one taking roughly thirty minutes to crack and then surrendering its contents in ten seconds flat once the door gave way. il-nul was the only name on record near a monument door this week, swiping a level one keycard through grid C9 at THU 14:57, minutes after the second vault emptied.
Pure's first thirty minutes end in seven dead scientists
The season's first documented life belongs to Pure, and it did not last long: about 30 minutes and 15 seconds alive, split roughly 4 minutes at a base, 10 minutes out in the wild, and nearly 16 minutes inside a monument. Sleep barely registered, two seconds of it. What did register was the body count on the way out, seven scientists and two animals, with nobody else involved yet.
crass_user's 45.7 hour head start turns into a season long lead rather than an early spike.
The Ferry Terminal keeps its reputation and draws the first fight of more wipes than it should, statistically speaking.
Somebody on this island ends the season holding Gold Coin they never once spend.
Whether il-nul's two trips to the Ferry Terminal were a fluke or the start of a routine.
How quickly the vault at grid C9 refills now that its lock has already been beaten once.
Whether Pure's seven scientist kills in half an hour hold up as a season average or age out as beginner's luck.
