Three kills, 2,773 deaths, and a month spent looking the other way
The July map closes on Thursday 6 August 2026 at 2PM Eastern, and the last thing it will take with it is one of the strangest ledgers the Hardcore island has ever kept. Across 344 residents and 5,420 hours of occupancy, exactly three players died at another player's hand. DarkStalker took one, sitys took one, King_Quackers took one, and that was the whole of it. The island itself took 2,773.
Everything else in the month was aimed elsewhere. 790,283 bullets and 83,564 arrows left the barrel this July, 263,556 of those hits landed on a head, and 85,704 of the bodies belonged to the island's own scientists and their hired company. 101 residents put in more than ten hours here and never killed a single person. That is not restraint by accident. On a hardcore PvE map, restraint is the building material.
One plain note before the record: the event wire only came online at the end of this wipe, which is why this issue carries no ticker, no weather ledger, no obituaries and no casino ledger. From the next wipe onward the paper will be able to tell the smaller stories too: the 3AM helicopter, the bad landing, the door left open.
Twelve residents lived here. The other 332 visited.
The distribution of July is a very tall, very thin building. 171 of the island's 344 residents never made it past their first hour, which is roughly the time it takes to lose a rock to a bear and reconsider. Sixty crossed a full day. Twelve crossed a hundred hours. The mean, 15.8 hours, describes almost nobody: it sits in the empty air between the tourists and the tenants.
At the top, TheFlyingCow closed the month with 203 hours, MB with 193, X_X T0A5T3D and JustKobe with 186 apiece, and flint with 176. Between them those five accounted for more standing time on the map than the bottom half of the roster combined. MB also finished the season as the island's richest resident under the old economy with 15,963 scrap, ahead of Нер'зул on 11,419 and JustKobe on 11,398. All of it dissolves on Thursday, and the new physical economy, scrap in hand and the Gold Coin beside it, starts everyone at nothing again.
The quietest war on record
Three kills in a month, and each one belonged to a different person, so not even a feud can be assembled out of the wreckage. The island's aggression went entirely into the scientists: MB alone put down 4,711 of them, Нер'зул 3,602, JustKobe 3,419. MB also fired 55,930 bullets and landed 13,550 head hits, which is a working day's worth of aim repeated for a month.
Against that, 2,773 deaths. Falls, fires, radiation, teeth. On this map the honest opponent has always been the terrain, and the terrain finished the season with a KDR the residents will never match.
MB downed one patrol helicopter in five, and zixanara answered the tank
The alarms desk is where Hardcore separates itself from its siblings. 239 patrol helicopters came down over this island in July, more than the 131 that fell on Pure, and 48 of them were MB's work alone: one fifth of the island's total sky, cleared by one resident. X_X T0A5T3D took 17, Kerrypants 15.
The Bradley was another matter. Eleven were destroyed here all month, against 228 on Pure and 47 on Survival, which says less about ambition than about what the tank costs on a map where dying is expensive. zixanara claimed three of the eleven and paid for the privilege with 690 rockets and 163 sticks of C4, both season highs, plus 202 traps taken off their mountings. trashcan took two, DarkStalker one.
Inside the buildings, 496 locked crates were opened and 760 airdrops were run down. The card economy ran through two hands in particular: Нер'зул finished top on green swipes with 78 and top on red with 50, while MB led the blue with 52 and the crates with 46. Both of them spent July walking the same corridors from opposite ends.
31 million wood, and Kobe cut a twentieth of it
The island stripped 31,060,698 wood, 10,426,168 stone, 9,350,588 metal ore and 5,077,703 sulfur this July, which is the sound of 344 people all deciding that the safest thing to do is to be busy. JustKobe led the timber with 1,623,193, Spartan0075 a close 1,601,521 behind him. TheFlyingCow took both metal and sulfur, 633,985 and 297,314, while X_X T0A5T3D held the quarry at 497,692 stone.
MB finished top on high quality metal with 4,118 of the island's 42,739 and top on plants with 7,977 of 113,483, a man who evidently owns both a smelter and a garden. In the field, flint hunted 657 animals and Dislexus broke 1,148 barrels, edging flint's 1,113 in the only race all month decided by roadside litter.
153,207 things put down, and someone has to walk past all of them
44,810 structures went up this month and 153,207 deployables were set inside them. X_X T0A5T3D placed the most building, 2,815 pieces, and also crafted the most items at 4,479, a resident who apparently built the workshop in order to build the workshop. TheFlyingCow followed with 2,187 structures. MB laid down 12,838 deployables on his own, JustKobe 9,377.
Thirty-five tool cupboards fell across the whole season and 1,322 traps were destroyed, most of them by the same names that spent the month arguing with the Bradley. On Thursday every wall of it goes back to being coastline.
PumpkinHead caught a third of every fish on the island
555 fish came out of the water in July. PumpkinHead accounted for 196 of them and murt for 152, which means two residents took nearly two thirds of the island's catch while 342 others were elsewhere, hitting rocks. MB, who led nine other categories, managed 84 and will have to settle for that.
For scale, Survival landed 777 fish with 890 residents and Pure managed 394 with 539. Hardcore, the smallest island of the three, out-fished Pure with less than two thirds of the population. The molotov ledger is smaller still: 21 thrown all month, 16 of them by Chizzlo, CapCon and X_minus_A. Everyone else got through July without lighting anything.
The wire opens with the new map on 6 August. Watch for the first entry in the obituaries: whoever it is, they will have died to something with no name and no grudge, and you will be able to read the time it happened.
The virtual wallet is gone and the Gold Coin is physical, which means for the first time wealth can be dropped, stolen off a body or lost down a cliff. Scrap stays scrap. Watch whether MB, who finished July with 15,963 scrap and no rival, keeps a fortune he now has to carry.
Eleven Bradleys fell here in July against 228 on Pure. Watch zixanara's rocket count in the first week: if the tank stays that expensive, the number that matters will be how many people stop trying.
