The wipe day briefingEarly edition
The island wakes up thin and foggy
The map went live at 14:00 on Thursday, and for the first hour it did almost nothing, which is its own kind of statement. A world of 3800 units drew itself out of a seed nobody chose, wrapped itself in a light fog, and waited to see who would show up first.
Two of them found each other quickly enough to need help. One resident went down and was talked back up, another did the healing, both inside the same minute, at 14:50. Four minutes later, something else stirred: a level one keycard lock in grid H19 took its first swipe of the season. That is the entire recorded history of this wipe so far. It will not stay this quiet.
Fog sat at 0.35 through the afternoon. No rain, no thunder. The Island rarely announces itself on day one. It just starts counting.
H19 gets its first visitor
One swipe, one grid, one level one lock. That is the entirety of the Island's monument traffic in its opening hour. Whatever H19 is holding, it held it a little less well after 14:54.
Two strangers, one favor
The season's first recorded kindness came before its first recorded kill. A resident went down within the hour and was brought back by someone standing nearby, the sort of thing that only happens this cleanly on day one, before anybody has a reason not to help.
H19's lock will not go the whole season on a single swipe.
Somewhere before day 28, a playtime figure will show up large enough to embarrass the furnace-hours genre.
0.35 fog will not be the thickest this Island produces before it wipes again.
Whether H19 sees a second swipe or gets left alone for the rest of the season.
Whether the season's first assist and heal were the start of something or just a coincidence of timing.
Whether the fog thickens now that the map has had a full week to settle into its own weather.
