Fifty kills and one grid square turn Sunday into the wipe's bloodiest afternoon
The fighting had been ordinary all week until Sunday afternoon, when a scrap at grid K22 opened at 14:14 and refused to end. Bolt rifles gave way to rockets, rockets gave way to whatever was left in the belt, and for the better part of ninety minutes the grid barely had a quiet second. By the time the guns finally drifted into the neighbouring squares the island had logged something in the order of fifty kills out of that single stretch of dirt. Eighty-four kills went into the week's ledger in total. More than half of them belong to that one afternoon.
Away from the noise the island kept its usual shape. Forty-nine keycards swiped through doors, thirty-three puzzle rooms gave up their loot, one of them not for nineteen hours, and a hundred and eight crates got cracked open across the map. Seventy-four sessions at the planters kept the dirt turning over, eighteen vendor runs moved scrap through the market, and eighty-five elite crates found their first looter before anyone else could get there.
The sky argued with itself most of the week. Heavy rain twice, Thursday and again Sunday, showers bookending both, and a squally Saturday that pushed the fog to 0.55, well above the island's usual haze. Monday alone came in clear across every reading taken, one day of truce before Tuesday's showers rolled back in.
Nineteen hours for one very patient loot room
The island's doors and crates kept up their usual traffic this week: forty-nine keycard swipes, thirty-three puzzle rooms cleared, and a hundred and eight crates cracked open across the map. Most of that moved fast, several puzzles went from solved to looted inside the hour, but one sat finished for nineteen hours and eight minutes before anybody came back for it, easily the longest wait the season has logged. Small Harbor and Large Harbor both had spells where three crates opened almost on top of each other, and the race to be first through an elite crate played out eighty-five separate times, most often around those same two harbors and the Train Yard.
A 692 scrap bet turns into 1,384 before sunrise
Bandit Camp's wheel took a hard run just after midnight on Thursday, a string of bets climbing from double figures into the hundreds before a 692 scrap wager came back as 1,384, the week's single biggest win. The rest of the week was less kind to the house's guests: a Friday night session saw bets of 84, 83, 166 and 333 scrap go down in a row without a single one returning anything, and a smaller run two nights later fared little better.
Pumpkins, sunflowers, and the odd blue berry
Seventy-four separate sessions at the planters turned out pumpkin, corn, sunflower, hemp, and yellow and blue berries across the week, a steady quiet industry running underneath everything else the island got up to. Nobody's plot made the news on its own, but between them the growers kept the map stocked while Sunday's fighting went on a few grids over.
Ten residents fall to one life in under ninety minutes
A hundred and eighty-one lives were logged this week, and Monday produced two worth remembering on their own. One ran just under an hour and a half and closed its account having put down ten other residents, more than any other single stretch managed all week. Barely five hours earlier, on the same day, a second life had already logged twenty scientists dead before it reached the two hour mark. Thursday holds its own entry too, a life that ran nearly eight hours and finished with forty-nine scientists to its name against just one resident and a handful of animals.
Eighteen sales and a couple of shredded cars
Eighteen vendor cashouts moved through the week, most of them the standard 750 scrap run with a few smaller trips at 125. Two cars met the shredder, two fish came up on the line against two that got away, and two missions closed out somewhere on the map, a quiet week for everyone not currently shooting at each other.
Fifteen trips into the dark, one lasting over two hours
The underwater lab drew divers down fifteen times this week. Most trips were brisk, under an hour and a half from the first descent to the last exit, but one pair went down Sunday night and did not surface again until well past one in the morning, a stretch of over two hours spent somewhere the sun doesn't reach.
Eighty-four kills, more than half of them on one Sunday
The week's fighting ran through nearly everything in the game's arsenal, rocks and hatchets at one end, bolt rifles and high velocity rockets at the other. The longest confirmed kill of the week traveled 104.1 meters at Fishing Village, and Sunday afternoon's battle at K22 alone accounted for something close to fifty of the week's kills before it finally burned out. Not everyone who went down stayed down: residents pulled each other back from the edge thirteen times, matched by thirteen more moments of first aid holding somebody together long enough to keep fighting. Somewhere in between all of it, eight quiet sessions at a jukebox got logged too, the island's only rebuttal to all that noise.
Jimmy Neutron's kill count doubles inside a fortnight
Jimmy Neutron now holds this wipe's kills record at 83, up from 43 when this desk last checked the board, with 149 hours and 46 minutes on the island to show for it. Sean Combs still owns the season's best K/D at 3.00. FunnierAxis has crossed 399 hours and 30 minutes this wipe, closing in on the 501 hours the same name left behind last wipe. Further down the table, Spot has logged 279 hours and 47 minutes for eleven kills against a hundred and eighty-one deaths, a ratio nobody is likely to challenge on purpose.
Six thousand scrap through the vendors, and a much shorter life than last week's
The busiest single trader this week moved 6,000 scrap through the vendors, eight times a standard cashout. Sixteen keycard swipes and twenty-six elite first-loots belong to the week's busiest doorman and busiest looter respectively, and the longest life anyone managed dropped sharply from last week's thirty-five hours down to 13.8, a reminder that nobody outlasts this island for long.
Eighty-four kills this week, most of them crammed into one Sunday afternoon at a single grid square. Watch whether the finale sees another flashpoint like it or a fight spread thin across the whole map.
A puzzle room went nineteen hours before anyone collected it, the longest wait the season has logged. Watch whether that patience holds or the island gets greedy again before the wipe closes.
Only eight days remain on this map. Watch whether the records board's names change hands before the reset, or whether the current leaders simply run out the clock.
